About
Coaching rooted in how management teams actually work
Cedar Base Leadership Consulting Pty Ltd is the official registered business name behind this practice. The firm was established in 2014 in Illaroo, New South Wales, after years of watching growth-stage companies promote strong individual contributors into management roles without a shared way of leading.
Early work began with local owners who needed someone outside the business to facilitate hard conversations between new managers. Those sessions grew into longer coaching cycles: fortnightly management meetings with structure, one-to-one support for people in their first people-leadership seats, and occasional offsites when a team needed uninterrupted time.
Today the practice remains deliberately small. We work with Australian businesses whose management layer is expanding—often from a founder-led circle into a group of four to ten managers. The focus stays on leadership coaching and facilitation, not on rewriting strategy documents or installing software.
How we work with clients
Engagements start with listening. We speak with the sponsor and with each manager before proposing a cadence. Sessions use live issues from the business: contested priorities, delayed feedback, unclear decision rights. Between sessions, managers practise small behavioural changes rather than studying long frameworks.
Values that shape the room
- Stay concrete — prefer the meeting that went poorly last Tuesday over abstract leadership slogans.
- Protect candour — name disagreement early enough to work it, not late enough to resent it.
- Respect the business — coaching should strengthen the management circle without becoming a parallel politics.
- Leave usable artefacts — working agreements, decision maps, and closing notes the team can keep.
